Masteron, once a highly sought-after synthetic steroid among bodybuilders, was manufactured by a prominent European pharmaceutical company. However, due to widespread misuse and concerns regarding its toxicity, production ceased nearly two decades ago.

Today, Masteron is scarcely available, with authenticity even on the black market being dubious. The Belgian pharmaceutical firm Sarva Syntex halted production of this drug at least a decade ago.

Known for its ability to increase muscle mass and promote a positive nitrogen balance, Masteron typically facilitates gradual weight gain over a period of 4-6 weeks.

Unlike many other anabolic steroids, Masteron does not undergo aromatization into estrogen, making it a preferred choice. It exhibits actions similar to testosterone, albeit with lesser estrogenic conversion. At elevated doses, however, the drug may convert to estrogen to some extent, potentially causing gynecomastia and water retention. Never officially approved for clinical use due to safety concerns, Masteron was trialed in Europe for treating drug-resistant anemia and severe weight loss in HIV patients.

Bodybuilders utilize Masteron to enhance and sustain weight gain. While its androgenic properties contribute to mass increase, the effect is not as pronounced as with other steroids like Nandrolone or Winstrol. Traditionally used before sports events, its detection window has been extended with modern testing methods, rendering it less favorable. Despite claims of muscle-tearing effects, many athletes find its impact minimal. Production mainly occurs in homemade labs in Asia and Europe, leading to concerns about quality and authenticity.

Dosage and Administration

Masteron is available only in injectable form, with a recommended dosage of 100 mg every other day, although some advocate daily use. Injections, typically administered in the buttocks, can be painful if given daily, prompting site rotation to prevent abscess formation. Dosage recommendations range from 200-500 mg per week, but as Masteron lacks clinical data, these are empirical. Common injection sites include the outside of the thigh. Often stacked with other steroids like Winstrol or Anavar, some users incorporate Clomid during the washout phase. Experts caution against prolonged use, suggesting cycles not exceed 3-4 weeks.

Side Effects

Genuine Masteron exhibits minimal and rare side effects, although fatigue, hair loss, and mental changes like depression or aggression have been reported. Notably, virilizing effects can be severe in women, with some effects irreversible even after discontinuation.
