Indication & Dosage:

Intramuscular Administration:

Anabolic therapy post debilitating illness: Adults: 25-100 mg every 3-4 weeks.

Postmenopausal osteoporosis: Adults: 25-100 mg every 3-4 weeks.

Metastatic breast cancer: Adults: 25-100 mg every 3-4 weeks.

Anaemia of chronic renal failure: Adults: 50-200 mg weekly.

Anaemia in chemotherapy patients: Adults: 50-150 mg weekly.

Contraindications:

Prostatic or breast carcinoma (male), nephrosis, porphyria, infants, pregnancy, and lactation.

Special Precautions:

Close monitoring of diabetic patients, conditions influenced by edema, hepatic impairment, elderly patients. Discontinue if signs of virilization occur in women. Monitor skeletal maturation in children.

Adverse Drug Reactions:

Various adverse reactions including acne, gynaecomastia, insomnia, decreased libido, hepatic dysfunction, and more. Detailed monitoring is necessary.

Drug Interactions:

May interact with oral anticoagulants, insulin, oral antidiabetic agents, adrenal steroids, and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).

Pregnancy Category:

Category X: Contraindicated in pregnant women due to demonstrated fetal abnormalities.

Mechanism of Action:

Nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, stimulates tissue-building processes, protein anabolism, and erythropoietin production, enhancing hemoglobin and RBC volume.
